Guidelines
Welcome to Smash Ronpa's test drive! In lieu of a Mock Trial, due to this round's length, we'll be keeping this test drive open until the opening of the game on September 28th. Reserves will be happening on September 18th, and you can use 20 comments (from your character) on the game's application! Otherwise, this TDM is here to help you figure out how/who you might want to play, and can help you get to know some of the players in the upcoming round. Don't feel like you have to apply just because you play on the TDM!

This post is, however, exclusively open to characters who fit the round's character guidelines. In other words - Nintendo characters and other video game characters who have appeared on a Nintendo consoles. Please check out our FAQ for more detail on this, or hit up smashronpa if you have any questions about character choices or anything else!

1) ARRIVAL
You wake up comfortably enough in a nice-looking, despite the overabundance of pink everywhere. It's well-furnished and decently roomy - there's even a little fireplace in there! The only problem is that even despite the sense of familiarity some might feel, this clearly wasn't the room you went to sleep in the night before.

Welcome the Monobear Training Camp! It may take a few minutes to gather your bearings, but you'll eventually stumble into the wide open world of the camp. If you look hard enough, you might find an odd electronic device somewhere on your person - giving you access to 15 different "student profiles". It's time to figure out just where you've ended up, now isn't it?

2) LIFE IS QUITE ABSURD
By now, you're acquainted with everybody here and you're sloooowlllyyyy growing bored. Bored enough to kill? No. Bored enough to actually try and entertain yourselves in this place? Yes. Yes, you are. Thankfully, this place has plenty of ways to entertain! You might just try to cook something up in the kitchen, play around in the well-stocked arcade, and even a neat little library! There's even a large movie theater, but your enjoyment of that might be hampered by the fact that there's only one movie playing on repeat. At all times. Remember, we're trying to cause despair here.

What some might find creepy, however, is that all the rooms are far bigger than they should be. The layout of this place is...it doesn't make any sense. There are windows and pathways where there shouldn't be, and it seems as though the rooms are almost overlapping each other. Don't think about it for too long.

3) WHAT'S MY MOTIVATION
IT'S MOTIVE DAY! What's going to drive you to kill? Drive you to end of the chain? CONGRATULATIONS, IT'S HAPPENING TODAY. Either nab a motive from any of the previous rounds or invent your own!

4) AND DEATH'S THE FINAL WORD
It was bound to happen eventually. Either you're dying, or someone close to you is about to make it up the great big Warp Pipe in the sky. Either try to get a few last words out before you go, or go off and investigate in the wake of their death.

5) WILDCARD
Who even knows- do whatever you want, man! Unless it's pissing off the headmaster. Don't do that.

What a pity... I did so want an authentic arcade experience. Oh well.

Then... could you please instruct me on the rules of this game? I've only been to an arcade once and most of my time was spent attempting to best the machine with the mechanical bird.

[no, not even all that time with a crane machine made her realize her error. maybe if someone had called it a claw machine to her instead]

[He doesn't get it, isn't free better? Whatever, he has no reason to deny her- after all, there wasn't really much else to do here]

It's not hard, you just match up the colors to get combos. Then your team will attack the enemies based on how well you do.

[He moves aside so she can try it with his team]

Ah... I see.

[moving in front of the cabinet]

[His wings fluff up and he jerks in surprise]

Whoa, watch it, this is my sa- damn it.

[He died]

[SURPRISE him getting surprised gets her surprised]

Oh!

Did I win?

[He stares at her for a moment... then sighs]

Totally.

[He hits a button on the cabinet, his save card popping out]

Come on, let's try something with less... buttons.

Woohoo! One point for Elizabeth, for electric fairies... zero

[oh boy you said the magic words]

Ohh! Yes, let us do so post-haste! I eagerly anticipate the next challenge!

Alright how about this.

[He points out Pac-Man, since it only needs the joystick]

This is easy. You just use the stick to move around and eat dots and avoid the ghosts.

Ah, I see. I believe I encountered one of these before at the mechanical bird game. A stick that causes joy for those who wield it expertly, correct?

[grasping it firmly]

I shall give it my all to devour these "dots" and obtain sheer joy!

[doot doot doot doot playing playing...]

[Well she's not WRONG. So he crosses his arms to watch.]

The big dots make it so you can eat the ghosts- which makes no sense since ghosts don't have meat, but whatever.

Eat... the ghosts?

Oh my, I did not realize that this was... that sort of game!

[He frowns]

No trust me, if it was real I wouldn't have suggested it. Eating souls is sick. But they come right back in the game so I guess it's supposed to be okay.

[...she grins]

You are a very young one, aren't you?

[Liz... Liz no...]

That's a relief though. Vore is quite a graphic objective... I fail to see how it'd be much fun if that were the case.

[chasing little ghosties now]

Oh! But how satisfying it is to chase them! The hunted becoming the hunter! [giggling with delight]

What... what's that supposed to mean!?

[Sorry Liz, his brain went straight to murder instead of the other type of eating]

Nothing you need concern yourself with for at least another five or more Earth time years.

[Well, more like 20 + earth years with how slow angels age, but he gets the idea]

Like hell it is! Tell me!

Oh- not now! I think I am about to best the last ghost and win!

[effectivefacekicking]

Wrong, you can't win until you get the last dot. They just come back and start chasing you again otherwise.

...Really?

While I admire their persistence, there is an importance in learning how to... ahem, "stay down".

I guess since they're ghosts they can't really die.

[lavenza]

Ah. Of course.

I had not considered that... what a massive oversight on my part. I will take pains to not make the same mistake again.

Still, even a ghost should know the meaning of the word defeat... perhaps if I beat them back enough times, they will eventually give in and go home...

You might be giving the game too much credit. You only have so many big dots, after all.
